If your domain is not working after purchase, it usually means the domain is newly registered and still being configured, or DNS/settings are incomplete. In most cases, the issue is temporary and can be resolved quickly.
A newly purchased domain may not show a website immediately unless hosting and DNS are properly set up.
After registration or DNS changes, global DNS networks need time to update.
Typical timeline:
Starts within minutes
Often resolves within a few hours
Can take up to 24–48 hours in some cases
During this time, some users may see the site while others do not.
Your domain needs correct nameservers pointing to your DNS/hosting provider.
Example:
ns1.yourhost.comns2.yourhost.comWrong or missing nameservers prevent proper resolution.
Even with correct nameservers, you may still need records such as:
A Record → points to server IPAAAA Record → IPv6 serverCNAME → alias like wwwWithout DNS records, the domain may not open.
Buying a domain does not always include hosting.
You may still need:
Shared hosting
VPS / cloud server
Website builder hosting
Without hosting, the domain has nowhere to load a website from.
If hosting exists but site files are missing, you may see:
Default page
Blank page
Error page
Directory listing
If HTTPS shows warnings or fails:
SSL may still be issuing
DNS may need to resolve first
Certificate not installed yet
Check your client area to ensure the order status is:
Active
Registered
Completed
Pending verification can delay activation for some domains.
Verify your domain uses the correct nameservers for your hosting provider.
Ensure required A / CNAME records exist.
Make sure your hosting account/server is live and the domain is added.
If everything looks correct, allow some time for DNS updates.
Usually DNS issue.
Could be DNS, server, firewall, or hosting issue.
Domain works, but website content not deployed yet.
SSL certificate not active yet.
After purchase:
Register domain
Connect hosting
Set nameservers
Add DNS records
Upload website
Enable SSL
Test after propagation
